Adrianna Baccaro is a current First Year Physician Assistant student at Monmouth University with expectations to graduate in 2023. She graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor’s degree in biology.

What is your name?

Adrianna Baccaro

What college did you attend?

My freshman year I attended St. John’s University as a Pharmacy major. Over the course of the year, I realized I preferred a more hands-on and patient-centered career and decided to transfer to Seton Hall University. I graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, cum laude.

What are the most valuable skills and experiences you gained through attending your college/university?

The most valuable skills I gained throughout college was cultivating good study habits and the ability to critically think. Additionally, through my participation as a campus tour guide at Seton Hall, I gained social skills such as effective communication, conflict resolution and active listening, that I know are essential for career success.

What was your favorite part of college/university?

My favorite part about college was the ability to meet new people, gain new experiences, and be taught by professors who love what they do.

What is your current job or profession (if you have one)?

Currently, I am a first year Physician Assistant student at Monmouth University with an expectation graduation of May 2023.

How did college prepare you for your career?

College taught me the importance of developing a good work-life balance, being attentive to details, and time management. My experience of having to balance being a student along with three jobs has contributed to my time-management skills and has taught me the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance while playing all these roles.

How did Amy assist you in getting into your college/university?

Amy was an asset and a huge contributor in my success of getting accepted into college. She guided she through the SAT/ACT standardized tests, helped me write a resume, and provided valuable feedback on my college personal statement. As I reflect back on my experience in the college application process, I feel as if I could not have done it without the guidance and encouragement of Amy. She motivated me and believed in me when I didn’t have the confidence to pursue my own dreams of becoming a PA.

What was one of the most memorable moments you had when working with Amy?

I have several wonderful memories of working with Amy. Aside from her help with the college admissions process, two years ago I told her I was applying for my Masters in Physician Assistant. She was so proud and supportive of me and my dreams. Amy assured me that I have what it takes to become an incredible PA and that solidified my career path.

What was an important skill you gained from working with Amy?

Amy has taught me the importance of courage and confidence in oneself. Through her mentorship and guidance, I realized that perhaps my grades are not perfect, but that is not the only determining factor of who I am. I accepted the reality that I may not gain admission into every school I applied to but a part of being resilient is being confident in my abilities. Above all, its understanding that Grade Point Average does not determine an individual’s inherent worth.

Any other comments?

Amy is not only an excellent mentor and role model, but she became a friend that I am lucky to have in my life and know.
